These are biscuits which are traditionally made and eaten in Malta during the lent period. I can assure they are very addictive. They are also quite light and healthy compared to other kind of biscuits.

For the gluten-free version: replace the 200g flour with 100g (brown) rice flour and 100g cornstarch.

Preparation
– sift the flour onto a big bowl;
– add the ground almonds, the citrus zests, the cocoa powder, the ground spices and mix well;
– add the baking soda and mix well;
– add the sugar and mix well;
– add the juice of the orange and knead well;
– add the pinch of salt and the oil and knead well till you get a smooth dough;
– wrap the obtained dough in some cling film and put it in the fridge for at least 1 hour;
– roll out the pastry into a disc with 2 centimeter thickness;
– cut the biscuits in the shape of rectangles of about 10 centimeter length;
– bake them at 180 degrees for about 15/20 minutes;
– melt some honey and spread it on the biscuits;
– top with the chopped nuts;
